My Sandy QXT640 has a really messy and damaged front plate. It's a flat piece of aluminium 46x9cm with 2 holes for drives and a couple of smaller holes for LEDs. It's painted black and has white text and stripes.
I'd like to re-create a new one. I heard that jlcpcb are also able to provide CNC aluminium parts. I have no idea about 3D modelling, anyone able to offer some advice? How would I apply the text and stripes... get decals made?
QXT640 front, anyone good with 3D design?

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proven excellent for mdv data recovery.

You don't need decals. You can create a image in Corel Draw, Inkscape, Photoshop or any other image processor, then print it on a cutter plotter on a vinyl stickerChr$ wrote: Sat Jul 05, 2025 6:20 pm I'd like to re-create a new one. Paint the face plate white. Then stick the printed image on the face plate and peel everything except the lines and the text.
Print the faceplate black. Then peel the vinyl sticker to reveal the white lines and white text.

Replacing the front plate with a black PCB might be another approach.
Once you have the design, you could also have a PCB (no copper traces at all) manufactured by one of them Chinese factories for little money, they make them in black with white print. Should make a perfect replacement.
