Yet another Qubata "Bad FAT" post...

Post by Pr0f »

I am seeing the same issue on a couple of machines - both have Qubata 3.10, but one is very simply setup - DOM or CF adapter plugged directly into the QUBIDE card.

I run through the set of commands that I've seen in the manual and on various posts here, and it's when I get to the penultimate step of linking the newly created partition:

win_drive 1,1,1 (on the simplest setup I have)

that I get the BAD FAT error and the 'bad or changed medium' following it.

I see the various comments about incompatible CF cards - but not so much about DOM's (Disk on Module)

For the CF card tests - I am using an adapter set for Master mode - that's been known to work with other peoples setups - so should be good there.

For the CF tests - I am using new old stock 256MB and 512MB CF cards

WIN_DISK show and WIN_DISK details,1 both work and report sensible numbers - I can get details with the phone if needed.

For the DOM tests - I am using a hyperdisk 512MB DOM - again new old stock.

So some questions:

Are there any recommended types of CF card or DOM to use?
Is there a minimum requirement for the CF cards?
My DOM module - it says it fully supports IDE mode, and also accepts power on Pin 20 (this is born out by the fact it's details are reported by WIN_DISK Show and Details commands - are there any known issues with DOM modules?

I have tried various settings for the blocks per sector - from 2 through to 16 - and none of them yield a good result.

And yes - I did a WIN_DISK init at the start of the process after Win_format command to allow update of partitions...
