I picked up a bundle of sinclair microdrive stuff and included was this connector but I have no idea what is for anyone any ideas.
any idea what this is for

It's definitely a gadget for the ZX Spectrum edge connector.
I think it's a fixer board to enable operation of the IF1 on the newer (Amstrad) ZX Spectrum models (+2A, +3).
It seems to be a pretty simple one, because the "normal" fixers used to use logic gates to create signals those models were lacking from the original one. This one seems to use some diodes for wired-or.

Really.
Exactly the same was used to connect MB-02+ disk interface to ZX +2A/+3. I have got one (although no +2A/+3).
