Status of QMON

Can anyone tell me what the status of the QMON program is?

I have been following Norman Dunbar's series on assembly language programming and several times he mentions using QMON. I haven't been ale to find it anywhere so assume it is not freeware (or similar status).

No, it's not.

To my knowledge, you can still buy it at Jochen Merz in Germany.

ComputerOne Monitor is a good, now freely downloadable (guess where

) alternative.

Or you can use Assembler Workbench as an all-in one assembler and monitor tool - available on the Sinclair QL Homepage

As far s I know it is still available from Jochen. Mine is years old, but very handy in tracking down nasty bugs in my code. There's also a debugged version that Laurence (Reeves) created a while back, but I'm not sure if it was ever commercially available.

Maybe someone knows?

I'm also (more desperately) looking for the ComputerOne Professional (?) Monitor that apparently has symbolic debugging capabilities.

Hi,

I like to use Jan Bredenbeek's Multimon, which does not give what you are after, but is a nice light programme.

Since Jan is a member here on QL Forum, he might be persuaded to impreve the programme.

Any update on the status of QMON? As to their websites, I can see neither Jochen Merz nor RWAP selling it.

Jochen's site is hopeless for listing what he has the rights to sell.

I've never had the rights to sell QMON (or any of the other QJUMP software) - there are various bits of stuff sold by QJUMP which need clarification - but it is probably best all being raised at the same time with Tony Tebby.

There is:
QFLP - the Upgraded ROM chip for the MicroP, Medic disk interface and the Sinclair disk system.
QMON
QTYP
QRAM

There is also the design for the QEPIII Eprom programmer which might be useful if made available.

Tony has already released Toolkit II, QPTR, QPAC1 and QPAC2 as freeware

Of course all it takes is for someone to contact Tony and ask him!

Hi,

I have QMON v2.07a, which has JMON included, does anyone know if there is any documentation relating to the use of JMON?

I have just realised JMON is a QPTR version of QMON.

I used to have a copy of QMON but lost it somewhere in the past 30 years...
I still have the source of MultiMon which is on GitHub now and it's also on my list of old projects to be re-activated. If you have any wishes you can post them here.
I have also written software for a home-made Eprom programmer (of which I still have the schematics and the prototype on Veroboard!) and while it will probably not have as many features as QEP III it's still useful for reading and writing Eproms up to 27512. It also includes a Hex file editor.
