Trump Card not recognised

Post by RWAP »

I have acquired another Trump Card.

Unfortunately, the QL starts up with it plugged in, but does not recognise it is there (no delay on start up even to take account of the extra memory).

Any ideas what might be the problem?

I have a feeling it might just be the oscillator....

I think it was that QL I was trying last night (although my own Trump Card worked in it) - the QL has other issues - such as a dodgy ROM slot connector (the spacer key is too wide and broken) - and certain keys do not work even with a new membrane....

I did notice a piece of paper fall out when I removed the Trump Card tonight to try it in another QL and that QL has recognised it correctly :D

Are you planning to put this Trump card up for sale? I'm on the lookout for a memory upgrade ever since I got the Ql-SD.

Hi Rich,
Had the same problem on my Trump card. It worked on some QL, but not for all.
The problem was the worn out DIN connector. After replace it was fine on all tested QLs.
The only problem is you need a lot of experience to replace it.

I think it's the DIN connector on that particular QL :)

Anyway, I have now listed the Trump Card for sale -

No, it was the connector on the Trump Card. The connector's blades were worn out, so depending of the position of the QL side pins, there was sometimes connection and somethimes not.

Yes I can see that, but I meant on my QL - as the QL has various other issues :)

I will try out the Trump Card on a couple of other QLs before I send it and if necessary swap it for the one I use :)
