The Futura cancellation was very much like Phoebe's cancellation by Acorn. It was close to finished, but represented an existential threat to the company. I remember holding a Futura PCB in my hands at the time and thinking just how..... BIG.... it was. Not just the size (a good 25x30cm at least) but the quantity, quality and cumulative cost of the parts.
Given the tiny size of the potential market and the problems Thor's maker was experiencing at the time, it was the smart decision. It was a terrible market to sell into.
The company still exists today, and has moved to more lucrative and stable markets.
We don't regret the decision for even a microsecond.
