If you use res_128 (or another utility) then whatever memory size you tell the QL to reboot with (e.g. on a 640k QL I've tried res_128 & 128, 256, 384, 512) then when the QL resets the Trump card is not detected (it's like it's been removed). The only time it's seen is if it resets with the full 640k, or whatever, memory? Is this a function in the GAL please?
Many thanks
Tony
And with original trump this work right? I suppose that this is with JS ROM.
The mechanism of ROM pagging only work with reset (hardware) so I will say that this is the expected operation, I need to check the original GAL code from tetroid, but I think is the same code, no difference.
Yes, original card works fine and is happy with whatever amount of memory you reset to
Happens with both JS & Minerva (though most of my testing was done with JS)
With v2.18 of TC ROM, or later, if it detects only 128kb it disables the floppy functions but again is happy with anything > 128kb
Am going to try the ROM version from my original card to see if it makes any difference (currently using v2.17c in the mini)
My suggestion of twisting line 10,11,12 in a straight Floppy disk cable only works, if 2 Floppy Drives are set to DS1, because, PCs Floppy Drives are hard wired to DS1 and the twist sets the drive selects to DS0. Purely to simplfy the floppy disk drive manufacture.
Where this fall don, is if a floppy drive is set to DS0 and use in the twised cable this will set to the drive back to DS1. So if the drives is set to DS0 use a straight cable and set drive 2 DS1 : FLP2 to DS1. Which looks to be found by experimental combinations.
The issue with RES_128 is not a problem, as I was told, by Stuart Honeyball, that the command reset to the QL ram to 128K and there is no room for the Trump card hardware and floppy disk controller. But at that time, I did not know that the Trump Card hardware sits at 10000Hex, and Toolkit 2 at 18000Hex, du to the mists of secrecy that existed then, so could not ask the obvious question...
Have found the problem, if I install the full compliment of memory (128+512+256) I can soft reset the memory size without a problem the same as an original Trump
It’s when I only install a 512 memory or 256, but not both, that the Trump vanishes on a memory resize reset

Not sure about this, as I use Trump/floppies fine after a res_128. I’ve only found 1 piece of software so far that needs 128 but won’t run with Trump active. It’s why I avoid TC Rom 2.18 and later as someone modified it to not load floppy stuff in 128 which is a problem for me
Edit: actually I’ve not found any, the 1 piece of software I mentioned needs Qimsi removed not TC, my bad
I check my GAL code and is the same that Tetroid and the original GAL, so not sure about what happens, I will continue doing checks.
Please be aware that if you are using my 256Kb RAM card expansion, it can not be used alone, so installing minitrump3 + 256Kb, will made the QL boot with only 128Kb of RAM.
In any case I need to check because I almost sure that I'm was able to use the disk with no extra memory (I know that Trump Version 2.19 refuse to load TK2 if no extra memory, not sure why, but 2.17 will load it).

Disk does work ok with no extra memory, the vanishing of the card only occurs with res_128 (or other value using a utility) when total RAM is >128 and less than 896k
The difference between 2.17 and 2.19 is that when 2.18 was created it was modified to disable the floppy interface with 128k (which is why I use 2.17c or lower)
The Trump card was originally released in 0k, 256k, 512k, 768k variants so I wondered if the PAL's were different between say 768k and 512k, but reading the description of the whole trump boot process I can't see where a difference in memory could cause a problem
Sorry but just not have time to check you reply, I will do tonight and provide additional information, but in any case:
GAL differences are related to the integrated RAM of the card, if you are using trumpmini3 that has not RAM, there is no differences.
I HAVE NOT RES_256 or RES_512, in my QL only RES_128 work, the other indicate bad command. I'm not sure how you was able to made it work.
I Just test Minverva + Trump 2.19 and disk work with 512k or 512+256K, and when doing RES_128, floppy do not work.
I Test Minerva + Trump 2.17 and disk work alwais, with 0, 512 or 512+256K, and even after doing RES_128, floppy continue to work, it's show in the boot screen, etc...

I use a utility on Dilwyns download pages (in toolkits) called RES (by Peter Beule) to set memory to any amount
Your final test doesn't work for me, but most of my testing is on JS. Will double check RES_128 + TC 2.17 + 512kb with Minerva
