I didn't know that with the latest firmware version - does someone with a Gold Card / Super Gold fancy trying to make an ED disk image?

FLP_DENSITY 'e': FORMAT flp1_EDDisk

Wonder if that would work - never managed to get an ED disk image working with the old firmware... - mainly because we could not figure out how the Gold Card ascertained if it was an ED disk or not...

The actual SD HxC "only" do SD (FM 125K), DD (MFM 250K), HD (MFM 500K)
ED use 1000KB/S MFM bitrate.

Hi Jeff,

I could not find documentation on the new formatting code, what specifically do we need to supply as a .hfe file?

Also can we then analyse the result to make better loaders for the software?

Hi all,

Here's my QL with the emulator neatly cabled up & bolted down onto the Trump card.
Working HFE & CFG attached.

Image

Whilst the LCD version is more functional it's a bit heath-robinson in terms of build quality I think. The lcd just hangs there!
However, the Emudrive version is real nice, very neat, and has a single 7-seg display for selecting the image and displaying error codes etc. Hopefully, as per my original post I can get it working also.

Ian.

I can confirm that image works with the SGC!

That is a DD disk from the looks of it, did you also try creating HD image like the one I sent?

Well, I have switched back to the non-LCD version of the emulator and with it the HD image format fails. I can here it beeping through the tracks but it just comes up format failed at the end.

As a further test I tried re-formatting the DD image that is working in the non-LCD emulator and it completes just fine.

When I get time through the week I'll try the LCD version again with the HD image.

To be able to format an HD image, the HFE must be in HD (500kbit/s bitrate).

The attached one is in HD.

EDIT : Is the Trumb Card really able to support HD disk with a WD1770 FDC ?

I had not noticed that in the spec, oops, that could be why my images did not work for Ian.

Anyway attached is the result of my formatting Jeffs .HFE on my SGC.

With my non-LCD emulator format fails with this image.......I did think the Trump card was DD only.

Probably normal as the Trumb Card doesn't seems to support HD disk... Anyway to confirm this, is there a schematic available somewhere ?

Also : even if failed please post here the result HFE.
