QL Keyboard matrix Figure 4.2

Post by Will James »

Hi,

Does anyone know if the Figure 4.2 "Keyboard Format" diagram in the QL service manual is accurate? I made myself a keyboard based on it but I'm getting some weird results.
I double checked the wiring and it all seems correct according to the diagram. For example, keys 1,2 & 3 are reversed.

I don't have a different thing.
Is it sure that is wiring correctly?

By the way... beautiful keyboard. I like your idea.
May I suggest some little changes for the connection?

The original documentation is wrong. When I built my QL mechanical keyboard I used this diagram, which works

I used a bit different layout for my keyboard

Hi Popopo, thanks, yes the connection to the QL is a little bodged, I just wanted get it working so I could use it.
I will probably make a little PCB to plug into the 2 keyboard connectors J11 & 12 with an IDC cable linking it.
Looks like I will have to remake it since it was based on an inaccurate diagram from the service manual...

I have read the Andrew's reply.
Good to know about this mistake in the official documents.

My suggestion to do it easier and elegant is to add the connector FPC FFC SMD, with the link of a belt (like cellphones to the screen). And as you said a small PCB adapter where to solder the other side (connector).
That way it would be very easy to built and replace in case of broken PCB.
Or perhaps is not a good idea but is what I am now studying for a couple of projects.

Something of the kind of https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005007203914070.html
Not this one in particular that is too fat :) but you know what I mean, don't you?

I like how you built your own PCB board
