Floppy drives not working

Next, I attached a USB-floppy interface thingy that I got from ebay to the new drive, and tried to copy some files over from my Windows 10 PC using QEmulator. It was successful for smaller files, so I got QStar running on my old QL Loving having some great new software running on the old dog. But attempts to copy bigger files were unsuccessful. Thoughts of the Gotek option came back to the fore.

Some USB floppy drives are known to to give problems with QL emulators. You could try the floppy drive with QPC2, It may work better. QPC2 will work with Qemulator files.

Interesting. The data sheet for the NEC drive says it wants 12Volts

It's actually 5V only- I have a few Miracle Systems double drive boxes with two FD1037As each. Internal PSU only puts out +5 and uses two pin connectors to the drives. One of mine had a bad PSU (damaged transformer), so I ended up just rewiring it to use a 5V/2.5A wall wart. Works fine.

Thanks for that suggestion Martin, will see if that helps next time I try it.
