Just found this thread so please excuse my late answer.
About the auction and non profit:
I am soldering those manually.
I had lots of expenses building a first test test batch for the beta testers.
I hoped the beta devices would compensate the costs.
They didn't. I'm just trying to compensate my expenses.
At the moment I had plenty of hours soldering and paid quite a lot for it.
That's why I call this non profit.
The next devices will be but it now.
And no, they are not going for 30 or 40 pounds I'm afraid.
But I hope they will be affordable.

It is quite reasonable to have the beta testers return their test samples at the end of the beta test, or to offer to let them keep them for a fair discounted cost that covers parts....
