I've found a program in my 2nd QL purchase by a firm that was based in Bristol. I've not yet worked out what it is. I will add the company name when I get chance.

Interesting - have you managed to get it running? If so, any chance of a screenshot or two? Bristol has had a large aerospace industry since the 1960s (maybe earlier?) so I wonder whether it was used in that context.

I am pretty sure that a planeframe is not necessary about planes, but more generally about construction.
A plane frame is a two-dimensional construction element, like a series of beam elements rigidly connected to each other; that is, the original angles made between elements at their joints remain unchanged after the deformation.

Am just going to check now. But there were 2 construction stress analysis programs released that were advertised in the small classifieds.

I knew that! (I didn't, really) :D

QL1 Planeframe by Prosoft (QSE Ltd, Bristol) ver 2.03

My version is licensed to a Eubank Preece Ltd

It loads in to the second window in the standard 3 window format.

Would be well worth sending a copy to Rich Mellor (RWAP) for the software preservation effort.

Hi,

One of my jobs in the past was a Design Engineer, where I used to produce stress analysis calculations based on framework structures, basically calculating all the forces in a bridge that has framework construction. It is basically resolution of triangular forces into vectors forces( Vertical: Force x SIN(angle), Horizontal: Force x COS (angle) and removing redundant forces, making sure the structure did collapse under its own weight or maximum applied load.

I use to do this by hand, all pre-computers, I would guess this software is an attempt to make the analysis easier. If you need an help understanding the software, please contact me.

I've sent some pics to Sparrowhawk as I don't seem able to upload them myself.
