Burning a Hermes

Does this look like the correct chip for burning a Hermes please?
Also, my GQ-4X4 Eprom programmer doesn't seem to support this sort of chip as far as I can see (not listed in supported devices in the software unless I'm looking in the wrong place) so is there an off the shelf programmer for the chips still available I could buy from somewhere please?
Many thanks
Tony

Does it have an erase window? Then it's the proper one. There are OTP versions that, once programmed, cannot be erased - that's not what you want. You might be having some washing machine firmware on it that you cannot erase.....
Programming these chips is not an exercise that modern EPROM programmers easily do - It needs 21V programming voltage. Otherwise, it is relatively straightforward and described in the data sheet. Maybe something Arduino-like could help if you can't find someone with a suitable programmer.

Yes it has an erase window, so that’s good thanks
Hopefully a suitable programmer will come up on eBay that I can try and nab or, failing that, a broken QL with a Hermes fitted
Many thanks

Hi, programmers for 8049 are usually quite expensive.
Here’s one option:

There should be members with programmers in this forum that might be able to help.

Thanks Chris, I have looked at that but it's beyond me to build one sadly

I have 2 programmers that can program the 8749, and an eprom eraser too.
I could program up an 8749 for you.

Thanks for the offer Pr0f
I won't have the chip for a week or so, and have no idea if it's "good", so if I can't find a programmer (or Hermes) in the meantime I'd really like to take you up on the offer please
Many thanks

Hi,
I have some PCBs to make this programmer for Hermes chips, maybe I will get them built and supply case, if the need is there.

I got some of my office/lab move done, and the programmer machine was near the top of the list - so that's up and running - I have some 8749 chips, and need to 'burn' a Hermes for myself, so am happy to do 2 of them. I would be able to test them, verify that they are working, as I have a QL I rescued on Ebay that's an issue 5 and I feel it deserves a second chance
