Hi

I may of asked this before, but I have a QXL 2 running at 25Mhz which works well with SMSQ v2.76 and SMSQ/E v3.05

If I use any version of SMSQ/E above v3.05 the keyboard does not work.

Can anybody with a QXL confirm if the lastest version of SMSQ/E works with the QXL?

Latest v3.38 (31/10/21) of SMSQEQXL.EXE works fine with keyboard on my QXL 1.

I last updated/used SMSQ/E on my QXLII about a year (maybe 2) or so ago and had no issues with the keyboard. Can't remember what version it was.

Hi,

Thanks for the help, I think there is problems with the QXL board, using SMSQ/E v3.38 starts up okay, but keyboard is not working.

There must be something wrong with the QXL Card.

Strange that v3.05 works perfectly.

So 3.06 doesn't?

Hi Marcel,

SMSQ 2.57, 2.76, 2.90 all work
SMSQ/E 3.00 crashes after 2 keypresses
SMSQ/E 3.05 works OK
SMSQ/E 3.06 does start up.
SMSQ/E 3.30 - 3.38 all startup but no keyboard input.

I have a 68RC040 CPU in the QXL from a Qbranch Q40, I guess that the CPU is defective, typical Qbranch quality, I wil maybe dump the QXL with SMSQ on eBay...

Looking at the SMSQ/E change log, I can not see what changes were made to SMSQ/E v3.05 to v3.06?

Just to be clear, "does start up" means that 3.06 also doesn't have working keyboard? There were no relevant changes in 3.06, though I do not have a history of the accompanying PC files. 3.13 on the other hand had some changes to the QXL keyboard code apparently, so the exact version this was introduced matters.

Does not start up means no display change after entering the command line.

I think the CPU is not working correctly.

That it works with earlier SMSQ/E surely must mean CPU is OK. Perhaps the fact you have full 68040 installed (not expected EC version) may possibly be the root cause ?

Does NOT start up? OK, the "not" was missing then. There were very small changes in the QXL code that look innocent but then I haven't tested it myself.

Possible but somewhat unlikely.
