Q-emulator on PPC Mac and OS X 10.5?

Hi,
I always used Q-emulator on my PPC Mac, but to run a relatively up-to-date webbrowser, I had to move up from OS X 10.3 to something higher.
I would prefer OS X 10.4, but it has become extremely expensive second hand. So I got version 10.5, which is the last OS X with PPC support.
Unfortunately OS X 10.5 does not have the builtin 68k emulation needed for the 68K version of Q-emluator.
Is there a chance to run any Q-emulator on my Mac?
All the best
Peter

1) downgrade to 10.4 somehow
2) emulate QL in 68k Mac emulator, e.g. Basilisk II, Qemu-m68k.

Yes, that is obvious. But there is no downgrade to 10.4 and otherwise I would need to emulate a whole 68K Mac. In addition to being very uncomfortable, I don't have a 68K MacOS.

Maybe this super-old version?
http://www.terdina.net/ql/mac/QemuLatorPPC.sit
(Cross-compiled for PPC with CodeWarrior running on Basilisk II... not sure if it runs on 10.5)

Hi,
I have aquired a very cheap Mac Mini G4, 512Mb, I upgraded it to 1Gb ram, with some spare DDR ram I had.
It came with OSX 10.5 DVD, though not much to do with it...
I also have a OSX 10.4 DVD from an old Mac I disposed of, faulty motherboard.
I tried using MorphOS on the Mac Mini, which works great, but its an Amiga OS, and needs 79 Euro registration....
So back to OSX, can I run Qemulator on the Mac Mini G4?
Or I could install Linux and maybe use sQLux?

Hi Derek, have you tried the link earlier in this thread to the old PPC version?

Hi,
I have re-installed OS-X 10.5 and performed all the updates.
I downloaded the QemuLatorPPC.sit file with the Mac Mini G4, but there does seem to be anything to decompresx the file, the Mac Stuffit application seems to available.
I will maybe install Ubuntu 12.04 and see if that is any better.

Hi,
You can download an old version of stuffit for 10.4-10.5.8 here
https://www.stuffit.com/downloads/stuff ... _en_74.dmg
It includes a free stuffit expander.
I tested QemuLatorPPC.sit on my own old iMacG5 PPC, which is partitioned with both Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5.
The application requires MacOS9 (classic) emulation, so only works on 10.4
If you are adventurous however, you could try running QDOS Classic under emulation.
The attached may work for you.
It's an old Amiga emulator compiled for ppc Macs, bundled with the QDOS Classic kickstart ROM.
The QDOS kickstart ROM bypasses the need for Amiga ROMs or workbench disks that cannot be shared.
It has a few issues, but worked on my iMacG5 PPC with MacOS 10.5.
I don't know if it will work on a MacMini G4.
The EUAE application was sourced here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/euaeppcjit/
The Kickstart ROM was sourced here
http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/emu/index.html
I had to fix the kickstart checksum before EUAE would accept the ROM.
* Download and unzip the dmg file, copy it to your Mac, double-click the dmg file to mount the disk image
* Copy the complete "EUAE_v1.0.0" disk into your Applications folder (so that you have a folder called "EUAE_v1.0.0" within Applications)
* Launch "E-UAE" or "E-UAE_G5", It will ask you to locate the config file
* Browse to, then select /Applications/EUAE_v1.0.0/QDOS/default.uaerc
I set up the config file default.uaerc as best I could, but you may want to edit it yourself.

Hi Mark,
Thank you for the Mac files, which saves me a bit of learning on the Mac OS X system, as the syxtem is so secure it is refusing connection to web sites.
I will use a USB Pen drive to transfer the files.
I have no problem using QDOS Classic, I used to supply it with the Q60 computers I used to produce and sell.
