Hi Guys,

I need to convert one of my QL'S (the ITA ONE) on a UK one.

I've the keyboard and I need to test SMSQ/E that is really difficult to use with MGI ROM (IT Keyb layout).

So I would like to change my QL ROM and I would like to put a UK rom inside naturally.

I've tested Minerva some time ago but I found it mostly incompatible with many old titles.

What did you suggest? JS or MF-EN or MG?

In order of preference, best to worst: JS, JM, AH. I only ever saw one MG QL.

There never was an official MGUK ROM.

Apparently, a few people patched English error messages and other strings into MGG or MGIT and created an MG ROM with English messages and keyboard layout. One of them is available on Dillwyn's page.

That may well be, The MG ROM machine I worked on had GI-labelled non-windowed ROMs. I don't know what that means.

Of the British ROMs, yes, JS is probably best if you wish to use QDOS.

MG was generally only for overseas markets as has already been said, and was a little later than version JS. MGUK was a special modified and non-standard MG for the UK by John Alexander - that works well enough, it's just that as you want a Sinclair ROM, MGUK isn't by Sinclair. If you want a standard Sinclair QDOS ROM for a UK machine, JS is best.
