Reading through some old QUANTA mags I have, years ago a common mod was to the move the regulator from next to the micrdrives to out of the case due to the heat it gave off. Not sure what else would be good but I've noticed some expansions do get hot.
Maybe someone could glue a fan blade to the microdrive spindle so a dir command would give a waft cooling air.

I fitted a small heatsink to the voltage regulator on my Trump Card.
It was getting really hot, so much so, you couldn't touch it!
I'm still not sure if I should change the regulator though, how hot should they get?
