I've got a copy of Success "The Supreme CP/M Code Emulation System" from Digital Precision that could use a good home. I've had it for quite some time, but have never tested it. Just need a mailing address.

So far as I know, there were only two versions of CP/M

Success by Digital Precision
Sandy CP/Mulator

Success was supplied on disk.
The Sandy version came on EPROM with a disk too.

Not sure which is the better version - whilst we have preserved them both, both are still unfortunately, subject to copyright...

Tim - who wrote Success (it will say it on the manual) ?

The manual says that it was written by Brian Watson. Manual was written by Dr. Helmut Aigner and Dr. Andy Aigner.

Hi Tim,

Success was the best CP/M emulator I used on a QL.

The Sandy CP/M emulator needed a ROM to work.

The Sandy Emulator required an Eprom to work, but I had a little bit of SuperBasic to allow a rom image to work.

I think it is just a matter of patching the Eprom address, the EPROM_LOAD command does load the CP/M ROM image and the emulator does run, but for some reason the rom image is unloaded.

I will have to look at some of my older QL systems to find the code.

Please don't mind a question.
Are these CP/M versions emulating a 8080 or z80 processor?
CP/M 2 or 3?
Is there no real CP/M 68K for QL which runs native on our 68K processor?
Kind regards
Paul

Paul,

the above CP/M emulators emulate Z80/8080 (Maybe someone else knows the exact CPU) on the QL.

There actiually was an implementation of CP/M 68k available from a company named Quest, sold in a package together with disk drive and controller plus a bit of hardware that allowed bank switching in the lower memory area to put RAM there.

http://www.rwapadventures.com/ql_wiki/i ... g%20System

I'm not sure whether that is preserved (I'd guess, not) however and have actually only seen it in advertisements.

I don't know anyone who has seen any Quest products apart from the Adventure program they sold and the memory expansion cards....

Most of their stuff was so ridiculously expensive that I doubt many people bought it...

Hi,

I have an expansion card that plugs into the QL Expansion port and some 5.25" discs, which is 68K CPM.

I never really got it working, need a 5.25" drive.
