Yep, the ultimate enthusiasts QL alright.

I have to take apart (*) the Q+4, just to see what the former owner did fitting the floppy disk & parallel interface inside the Q+4.

Need also to work out what the blue box is.

Well, the blue box is, as you all surmised, contains the QL's power regulators on the QL's heatsink. However there is no air flow through the blue box, so reducing the advantage of putting the heatsinks outside the QL.

The Q+4 is interesting. The Q+4's PCB has got the drill holes and the markings for a disk drive and maybe parallel port interface. The previous user has put the disk drive and parallel port connectors on, as well as marking what sort of chip on tne silk screen layer. Maybe CST added the disk drive interface for the Winchester and floppy drive combination in their ad?

So, I revise my estimate of the BBQL to an enthusiastic amateur's QL. (I know, I'm harsh - the first cup of coffee hasn't been drunk yet!). The BBQL has got lots of tin foil laid out wonderfully though, I'll say that.

Pictures are in my camera - will upload them really soon now. Honest, Guv!

Hi folks,

I own a CST Q+4 in mint condition. I bought this new in ca. 1986 from ABC Elektronic, Bielefeld, Germany.

Based on this thread I was digging it out of storage recently, shot some pictures and scanned the manual (instructions).

Here you’ll find a picture of the side where twellys unit is modified:

Here you can download the manual:

@twellys: More pictures (inside the Q+4) are welcomed…

Cheers, Urs
