I am having a little problems with the incorporation of the 12C connector into the Q68 case.

I thought about placing a 4 pin Mini DIN connector on the side, but the dimensions of the case do not allow this.

The next option was to have a 4 pin JST rectangular connector on the Back End plate, which would be a small slot in the metal plate to suit the JST plug.

Here is a screen shot from my CAD program showing the location of the I2C connector in Yellow. The new End plate will not have a white laser cut labelling for the I/O Ports.

Would this be acceptable?

I think that I will not use the i2s but this seems a nice place for the connector.

Looks good to me, I just doubt I²C will be used much.

My feeling is that if the connections for these lesser used interfaces are not exposed, then they'll never get used, which would be a real pity...

I like your JST connection option. Is that the 0.1" pitch connector?

I have been looking at JST SH connectors, which are 2.0 mm pitch, something like this, with 4 pins: But the panel mounted connector extends too far out to the Q68 Back Plate, so I will need a spacer to move the connector back into the case.

I must apolgise for the delay in supplying the Q68.

I think shipping of the Q68 shoukd commence in February 2023.

I am am having a some problems with the fitting the I2C connector on the Rear Panel.

I opted for a JST-SH male socket connector, which is shown is a message above, the problem is finding a panel mounted connector.

I might review the necessity of fitting the I2C connector, is this wanted?

I would not mind if mine was supplied without the I2C connection, as I have no plans to use I2C with it. But equally, if it helps you to be sending all Q68's out made identically, I'm happy to wait.

I am going to not fit the I2C connector on the Q68 Rear Panel, this can be offered as an upgrade of the Rear Panel.

All the work left is to drill 2 x 6mm dia. holes for the QL Network connectors.

I am sorry for the lack information on the progress of the next batch of Q68.

The new Q68 case required a little more design work, the QL Network sockets have accurately drilled and on the right hand side of the of the Q68 case.

The new case is slightly smaller than the previous case, which required the end panels redesigned. I produced an engineering drawing to produce new end panels, which has been usdd to produce new panels, that are fully anodised and do not suffer from paint flaking as seen on the prevent case end panels.

The new rear end panel has a I2C socket fitted above the Serial socket, this is a 4 pin 2mm JST Socket.

The other major delay was the supply of parts, which were previousily were supplied from an Electronics company in Germany, who could not supply parts to the UK, the reason was given as Brexit. Which is strange as other German companies supply to the UK. So I had source the parts from an alternative source, which I have just only taken delivery today.

I am sorry for the delays, I hope to start shipping the Q68 in April.
