*grins* The PLCC packaged 68008 is just like the DIP version in the QL, but the extra pins allow two extra address lines. This expands the memory address range from 1MB to 4MB. Guess how much memory the UltraQ is going to have.

What, does an Ultimide need all those chips on one board?

The IC BOM for UltimIDE is eight devices at present:

IC1,2 - 2 20V8 GALs PLCC - new logic!
IC3 - 1 16k ROM PLCC in socket - new driver!
IC4,5 - 2 74HCT646 SOIC
IC6 - 1 74HCT139 SOIC
IC7 - 1 buck reg 1.5A SOIC - cool!
IC8 - 1 74HCT00 SOIC
IC9 - 1 mystery chip! *ooooh*

There are also a few jumpers, some decoupling caps, some power supply caps, a few diodes, some resistors, maybe a connector or two... This thing has a rocking power regulator.

The last two ICs will be an optional extra.
