ZEasarUX is one of the best multiple emulation systems available, maybe better than MAME, though that is personal opinion.
Oh, so you actually like ZEasarUX and have had good experience with it. Of the systems it supports I really only use the QL, ZX81, Spectrum, and sometimes the Z88. How does ZEasarUX compare to the QL emulators, and also, how does it compare to EightOne, which itself covers ZX81 and Spectrum?

All the emulation systems on the Linux system, need the correct video driver installed, which in most cases is installedon the operating system, I have noticed some Linux distributions, WINE does not install the correct video driver.
what video issue?
Good to know.
Sorry, not video issue, in the VIDEO I show the issue. With typing response and failing access to the virtual MDVs
Some people (like me) have strong opinions on Facebook - Sorry, I cannot see your video.

Hi,
ZEsarUX is at v12 now, it does take a lot of configuration and reading the documentation is recommended.
I think it is a very good multiple emulation system, whether it is any better than others around is personal choice, since it is free, then use it, as with EightyOne and other Spectrum emulators.

I read many opinions on Facebook many are wrong due to lack of background knowledge, I have commented in the past, but they seem to be right, due what ever reason, then can not get their system running. So the result is I only look at Facebook QL groups, and restrict my input.
I viewed the video OK, problems look like lack of configuration and knowledge of how the emulator works.

Probably.
Maybe not.
Whatever

there is the video that any user could try out to replicate in their system.
I think, an user may not present a doctorate to run a compiled emulator. And if it is a factor to consider, then other that just run on the way first try would be more interesting for people like me.

I understand you very well.
I will try to extract the video and post it here. I thought I did before.

There is the link to the video.
https://youtu.be/G4UrRq-yEcQ
It was the compiled version downloaded directly from its site.
Before the video I was trying different things that are not shown in the video. The results didn't change.

I think the issue is you need to give it a directory like it asks for.
I don't think MDV files are supported.

I was thinking the same at very beginning,
but after several tries and ways... finally I discard this point.

That could make sense. Be aware in any case 2 points... in description of the project it says they are supported. Secondly there are the icons and so on.
Finally, the typing suffering way is not solved.
Perhaps it is a bug in the last version that was not before. But since to contact to the author was not possible... just I remarked it here.
IMO: What I wanted to show is that even if the emulator is great in every sense of its conception, in some systems (like mine), the last version present some bugs that make it not a good choice.
Perhaps in other OS/versions (let's think Mac o MSWindows) those bugs are not present.
And also IMO, to have a way to report bugs to the project is a very important point. Something that in this case is not possible.
When typing is suffering, and not MDVs images can't be loaded for a QL emulator, ... well. What to say?
edit: wait a minute, what do you mean about the directory that the APP ask for? Do you mean the dir for MDV files?

If you mean the keyboard emulation is broken, then yes it is and always has been, its next to unusable IMO and the main reason I do not use or recommend this emulator.

For example
Code: Select all
❯ ls -R mdv1/
BOOT TK232_net.bin
point the mdv directory at that directory and the emulator will create a virtual MDV for you.
