Sounds like a power issue, have you removed the 68008.

Not sure what QIMSI Classic is?

Hi Marco,

what do you mean with "restart"? Press the QL reset button? If yes, the QIMSI is not reset, because the reset line is not present at the ROM port. This may explain the different behaviour after "restart" and power down.

For the overall problem, very difficult. You have many expansions on this QL. I would propose to start to remove one or the other and try again to more figure down the problem. For example the SGC.

Yes the 68008 is removed.
with Qimsi classic the non gold qimsi.

No I don't reset. I switch off the power.
I think that the qimsi non gold doesn't work without the SGC, or am I wrong? For the rest I will try to follow your advice.

Yes, to run a QL OS with standard QIMSI, you always need a CPU on the QL side, not necessarily a SGC of course.

If I understand correctly, you are using an external keyboard attached to QIMSI.
And you only have issues with that external keyboard, right?

Hard to guess from afar, but my main suspect would be the Multirom. Hermes and SuperHermes sit within the QL internal IO range and shouldn't collide with anything. SuperGold Card mainly as well, but should work. QIMSI NoGold uses the RO Port area exclusively, but MultiROM could easily play into this. Can you de-activate that?

That's it from an address range conflict perspective. Of course, with that number of extensions filtted, it could easily be the PSU is overloaded and refuses to work once the regulators exceed a certain temperature (and comes back once sufficiently cooled down). If I had to guess, I would strongly suggest a power supply problem.

I thought the SGC was necessary to have enough ram. I tried the Qimsi nogold with a basic Ql (128 kb) and it runs out of memory.
Yes, you understood correctly, I use a Ql inserted in a PC case and the keyboard is external. To have a classic Ql I switch on the js rom and use the superhermes keyboard driver, otherwise I turn on the Minerva rom and boot with the Jan or SMSQE driver. I don't have any problems if I boot with the latter. The problem occours when I boot with JS rom and superhermes keyboard drive. After some times the Ql freezes and when I subsequently boot with Minerva the keyboard doesn't work correctly.

Yes I need to make some attempts, one of these removing the multirom. I would exclude a PSU overload because my Ql is inserted in a pc case with double power supply, a standard pc PSU for floppies, Kilgus VGA 2.0, and an internal fan, and the original Ql PSU for the motherboard and peripherals.

I wouldn't, especially when you're feeding the 5V over the original PSU. That used to be at the limits of the 7805 with a number of peripherals fitted - Loaded with SGC, SuperHermes and GoldCard the poor voltage regulator can already be somewhat on the edge, add the age of the poor guy and it's kaput.

Is there a reason why you don't feed the 5V from the PC PSU? It was commonly the 5V generated from the original QL regulator that made problems, and you could easily eliminate that in your setup.

On the 5v line of my QL there are motherboard, SGC, Superhermes and Vdrive, all powered by the original QL PSU. The original 7805 has been replaced by Tetroid Sinclair power module. Anyway I will follow your advice, starting by removing the Vdrive that is the last component added. I will keep you updated.
