It’s the legs on the bottom of the board that plug into the QL Rom socket.

But the strip of pins are the ones that are soldered to the PCB underneath the soldered EPROM so the only way to replace the strip of pins is to de-solder the EPROM as well

It’s also such a jigsaw that it’s simpler to just build a new board (I still have 3 complete sets of components)

Actually, maybe I can just solder a pin onto the remaining stub?

I'd just be a bit wary of it snapping off in a QL socket, but I guess it would be possible to extract it

Hi

I would try to desolder the remaining pin instead and just replacing it by taking the pin from another socket. Depends on type of socket though.

Trouble I have is, I can’t access the pin top to de-solder/solder as it’s underneath a soldered eprom

Have managed to solder a leg back on and was able to put it in a socket and remove without the leg falling off! (for now at least)

The QL it's for is packed away now for storage, so just gave it a quick test in the viglen I've attached to my main QL

When I connect a Minerva Mk2 to my Viglen ROM extender (as used on BBC Micro's) everything works fine except for the LCD display which is linked only to the I2C connectors on the Mk2 board

The LCD is getting power from the Mk2 board (as it lights up)

To my mind all the I2C stuff is internal to the Mk2 board and so I can't get my head around why it won't work

My only thought is whether the +5v feed doesn't work well over the Viglen ribbon cable

I was just wondering, before I try and feed the LCD directly with 5v, whether anyone had any thoughts or theories as to what might be going on please?

The LCD works fine with the Mk2 plugged directly into a QL ROM socket

Many thanks
Tony
