I think I have the same manual! The pages have no date and there is a Q-Club letter at the back which mentions the rom dongle.

If it is marked First Edition it possibly is the same manual - I have seen an even earlier manual which was not marked first or second edition, and was undated. The most remarkable thing about that manual was that many of the images used (eg. for setting up the computer) were hand-drawn.

Urs Koenig has that manual out of interest as he collects all the earliest QL stuff.

Hold onto it then as it is more valuable - even with the various errors in it (and the View command which was never implemented in Quill)

It would be devastating to upgrade it now.

Unfortunately I have tried it with a Gold Card, but it does not work with that for some reason (even with the 68008 processor removed) - maybe linked to the Dongle being present, who knows.

The biggest downside to a dongled QL is that you cannot plug in Toolkit II

Having read all of the bad press about these early QLs I was pleasantly surprised by the microdrive units - fast and stable!
