looks the same, except, I offset the gaps in the cable.
Do you connect it to a printer or RetroPrinter unit?
Never thought to stagger the cuts for strength, might do that with the spare
It’s connected to a RetroPrinter unit, only tested printing a listing with the SGC so far as I need to configure quill yet

I've got this cable, which I think came with my super/gold card
It does not have any holes punched in it I can see. And it's about 5 feet long.

Hi Martin,
That looks exactly like what I was looking for
I've managed to source a couple of the Centronics plugs so will have a go at building one
Is there any chance of a picture of the other side of the centronics plug so I can see the ribbon entering it please?
Many thanks
Tony

Hi,
A more scientific way would be to verify with the Super Gold Card Manual, on QL Homepage:
Code: Select all
PRINTER PORT CONNECTOR DETAILS
View looking into the plug.

Thanks Derek, but I can't reconcile that with this document I used which says 2/4/6/8 should be NC.
I'm sure there's a logical reason though

26-WAY
SUPER GOLD 25-WAY D
CARD PRINTER FEMALE
CONNECTOR CONNECTOR
When assembling a QL with Super Gold Card into a typical PC case, one requirement which may arise is to produce an adaptor to
connect the Super Gold Card's parallel printer port to a connector on the tower case. PC style 25-way D to centronics parallel printer
cables are pretty cheap and easy to locate, so here are the details of how to wire an adaptor cable to connect the Super Gold Card
printer port to such a cable. The 25-way D connector concerned is a 25-way D FEMALE connector. Wires from pins 2,4,6,8 and 26 of the
Super Gold Card connector must be broken, this allows straight through 26 way ribbon cable to be used.
I have this version working fine, so will use my multi-meter to validate what connects to what at the centronics end before I build my new cable
Many thanks
Tony

Having looked at the chart Derek posted (thanks) and looking at centronics pin out I get how to wire it now
Just waiting for centronics plugs to arrive from Netherlands now
Many thanks

Well I've made a cable and it works! (at least I listed my boot file to retro-printer ok)
Sadly, the centronics plugs I got don't have any cable management to grip the cable more, so will keep a look out for better ones
It doesn't look very "original" in colour either as rainbow cable was all I had available
If anyone does have an original cable they don't mind parting with (for a price of course) I'd still be interested in obtaining one please

When you say original cable, what do you mean, as Miracle Systems never supplied a parallel port cable.
I have some black or beige IDC flat ribbon cable if you want some.
