So what is ZEsarUX trying to be? The MAME of 8-bit computers? Well, it doesn't really support all since it's missing Commodore or Atari. Is there a formula for what it's trying to be?

Seems like a lot of work is put into this but do we know how good the emulations are (outside of the QL which seems to struggle)? Are any of them better than the specific emulators that focus on the platform?

For what I have tried... for QL this emulator is terrible. Not usable at all. I have tried to contact the author without any answer to tell him what is wrong (at least on my system, that I have reproduced in some Virtual Machines with same results and another computer).

The main purpose (I remember when it was published for first version in a Spanish forum), to emulate ZX. But the project become a very big promise for users and programmers.
It has a nice feeling like ZX environment. So it is a taste option.

If I had to compare it with others like Virtual Retro Machine (also a Spanish development)... I rather prefer VRM as final user. For programing I am not so sure, maybe Fuse, VRM development version or directly the IDE developed for Boriel ZX that includes its own emulation.

Talking about support... well... with some issues with other emulators, ASAP I reported a bug or something the authors replied and in some cases fixed it. But with ZEsarUX you can tell by yourself. Not feedback at all (by now).

Of course, perhaps I have experienced problems with QL emulation only with my computers and you try it and it goes like a champ.

My apologies "ZEsarUX 10.0", WPC2 is indeed QPC2. I have a new laptop, it is a 16 inches wide one where my previous, for about 12 years, was 17 inch. The keyboard is slightly smaller and my typing has really suffered as a result. My fingers "know" where to go to hit the right key, but on the smaller keyboard, that's never the right key! Sigh.

I will check out your recommended emulator.

I add "again?" a link to a video where I show some big problems with last version of this emulator.
In particular with Linux Mint (probably with Ubuntu) doesn't load MDVs image.

Also keep an eye on the typing speed because it was awful, many many chars missed.

I use most of the good QL emulators on Linux, which are:

SMSQmulator: Java application, I use openjdk to run it.

QPC2, Qemulator: Windows application, requires WINE installated to run on Linux

sQLux, sQLay3, uqlx: Compiled from source, but pre-compiled executable files are available.

sQ68ux, Linux application compi,ed from source

All these emulators run QDOS or SMSQ/E, can run MDV, FLP image file as defined QL drives.

I can connect these emulators to a QL or Q68 via QLUB QL Network interface.

ZEasarUX is one of the best multiple emulation systems available, maybe better than MAME, though that is personal opinion.

I compile ZEasarUX from source code on Linux

All above I have run on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Manjaro, Arch Linux, Fedora, MX Linux. Mostly any modern Linux distribution.

Hummm I didn't try to compile the last version by myself but just running the compiled one from the site.
But you can tell by the video the issue. At least for compiled version.

All the emulation systems on the Linux system, need the correct video driver installed, which in most cases is installedon the operating system, I have noticed some Linux distributions, WINE does not install the correct video driver.

Sorry, not video issue, in the VIDEO I show the issue. With typing response and failing access to the virtual MDVs
