Who has used Cartridge Doctor? I recently used OPDEdit, which I must have gotten from Dilwyn's site. How are they different? OPDEdit lets you jump from sector to sector by either file or within file by block. You can write out a sector to recover it. I find it really useful. Wondering what extra Cartridge Doctor gives you.
Also, what is OPDEdit stand for? Not One Per Desk, does it?

Oh wow, that's odd. I guess the person that wrote it owned one? I mean it works perfectly fine on the QL and does a really nice job sector editing and MDV drive to see what's there and recover corrupt sectors. You can even modify sectors directly on a cartridge. Pretty nifty tool. It doesn't seem to do anything automatically, so perhaps that's how it differs from Cartridge Doctor after having perused that software's documentation (someone shared the doc with me).RalfR wrote:Yes, it does!bwinkel67 wrote:Also, what is OPDEdit stand for? Perhaps Dave Walker, as he has written a lot of tools to copy OPD Microdrives to QL and vice versa.bwinkel67 wrote:RalfR wrote:Oh wow, that's odd. I guess the person that wrote it owned one?

Yes, it was Dave Walker of C68 fame. I think he worked somewhere, possibly ICL, where the OPD sort of originated. ( Also with BTs Tonto)
I got hold of a loan of an OPD back then as I was an ICL mainframe technical support "guru". I quite liked them.
Cheers,
Norm.
