how to get zipped files onto ql floppy pref. unzipped

Hi forum ,

I really need some help on this problem.

I would like to make the psion-set work on floppy ( and lateron averything interesting ofcourse ).

So , i have the zipped files placed in a directory on my pc ( each one in its own directory ( so , quill , abacus , etc ) .

The files are taken from dilwyn's site ,and are the 235 f-suffix ones.

I have also downloaded the qlUNzip file and placed that on a desktop folder on my pc .

Installed qemulator v 312 to make an "easy " transfer possible

the pictures show what i already did ,

drive 1 is assigned to my pc's floppy a: and formatted as abc
drive 2 is assigned to my c-drive folder quill

and the unzip is on the desltop


And now ,..............................Help me pleaaaaase

Ah - first of all you need to assign mdv3_ to your PC A drive

Then download the file unzip 5.32 as a bas program from Dilwyn's site:
http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/arch/unzip532_bas

You can save this on your PC as is, point mdv1_ to the folder where it is located and then:
LRUN mdv1_unzip532_bas

This will create a version of QL Unzip which works on the q-emulator (or a QL !!)

Once you have done that, then you can use the following commands:

EW mdv1_UNZIP;'-d mdv3_ mdv2_QU235f_ZIP'

This will execute the newly created UNZIP program in mdv1_, and then unzip all of the files in mdv2_QU234f_zip onto the disk in mdv3_

On the pc you will have to remove the .txt file type

Depending on windows version it's usually found under folder options then view then untick hide extensions for known file types. Then the file name will change from unzip_bas to unzip_bas.txt and you can delete the .txt off the end.

At least now i get some action ( old and rusty brain cells i persume ).



will it be possible that the standard qemulator ( the free one ) has too limited memory to execute the lrun flp1_unzip532_bas ??????

Possibly - you could also try stopping the QL on q-emulator, then going to QL -> QL Configuration and unticking the active against the Toolkit II backrom - that will free a little more memory..

I'm not sure as I have the full version but I thought before you start the emulation you can select 512k ram as an option. How are you gettting on?
