Hi,
My trusty QL has develop a problem. It hangs after the first memory test (I have a super gold card + Aurora).
So when I fire up the machine, I can see the first screen patterns of the memory test, then the screen goes blank and the minerva logo appears in the lower right corner as it should, then nothing. The F1/F2 window never shows up. And the computer stay there forever.
I have removed all disk drive connections, Qubid card, etc. But the problem remains.
I have removed the minerva eprom from the Aurora clean the contacts and put it back. No joy.
I was working well an hour ago. I was in the process of installing a metal shield near the floppy drive #3 (far from the Aurora and SGC) when the problem appeared.
Any ideas?
François

Re: QL hang in boot process
The obvious questions are to ensure all the chips on the mother board are firmly in their sockets, they do work loose after awhile through constant heating up and cooling down. There still maybe an issue with the memory chips despite the feeble check process that the QL performs. I would look at the voltages with an oscilloscope if you have one. The technical manual provides some screens of what you should see. Elsewhere on this forum there are many suggestions as to what issues can cause the QL to hang, I would suggest searching for that phrase.
